So many comments from so many ignorants people lul
Saiyuki is not a gay manga or anime. Everyone is saying so because it's 4 sexy boys and the author did some yaoi works but Saiyuki is not a yaoi serie .it's actually an adventure serie based on the Chinese 'legend of the west' .With Sanzo and his crew traveling.
This serie name is Saiyuki and it's not a season 1. It's actualy a 'reboot' of Saiyuki Reload Gunlock (which had an original ending) which is itself season 4. ( it came out in 2004 or something)
In order to watch Saiyuki you should start with Gensomaden Saiyuki, Saiyuki Reload, Saiyuki Gunlock (but it's shit) or this one , Saiyuki ZeroIn Then Saiyuki Reload Blast.
Saiyuki started as early as 1992 as a doujin then a serialized manga. It's old and still unfinished. It inspired many animes/manga that came out later.
Plenty's of ova/movie/games/drama cd came out (Saiyuki Gaiden etc) but I heavely recommend to read the manga instead of watching the anime since Saiyuki always suffered of shit adaptations especially on the animation part ... ^^'
(Total of 9 volumes for arc 1 Saiyuki / 10 for Saiyuki Reload and 3 for Saiyuki Reload Blast + 4 for Saiyuki Gaiden and one for Saiyuki Ibun if you want to try the prequels !)
The only solid part of the anime is the voice acting of the main characters and some old ost's.

Genji • 2 years ago

> Yaoi
dafuq? how'd anyone think this? lol
there is a literal womanizer right there in light burgandy hair.

Kirito • 2 years ago

People who think this is yaoi is probably the Fujoshi but I do love the animation and art style of this anime and the story looks a little mid

Genji • 2 years ago

I feel like it is interpreted as mid because the series breaks itself up and is inconsistent. Because this series came so, so late and really, I would've preferred Magi. But this series is ok for me atm.

Ronin_84 • 2 years ago

Haven't seen it yet, but here's a helpful flow-chart:
- Are they touchy with each other? > they're F*ggots
- Do they like to be nude or wear little clothes, showing off their skin to each other? > They're f*ggots
- Are they overly close to each other or other male friends? > They're F*ggots
- Are they overly flamboyant and effeminate in either dress or speech? > F*GGOTS!

Genji • 2 years ago

If you havent seen it yet, why are you thinking all of this? lol

Sora • 2 years ago

There's more like father and son relationship

Kirito • 2 years ago

I don't even remember their names here all I remember is Goku is here lol

Chibi-Chibu*-* • 2 years ago

Or u could just call it bromance

Eris • 2 years ago

nah

Kirito • 2 years ago

They're all just dudes that fights yokai stuff and that priest is sus because that big guy hands was slice was it and now it's good as new

Sora • 2 years ago

They're not really friends, or at least not to Sanzo, so not sure if it's bromance

Chibi-Chibu*-* • 2 years ago

Really? When they fight to death along side each other n they still don't even consider themselves friends?

Sora • 2 years ago

That's just the feeling I got from Sanzo...but maybe it's just because of his personality

Ninjax • 2 years ago

Uh, Sanzo deeply cares about them, he just never outright admits it. That should have been obvious from the previous seasons.

AngelT • 2 years ago

Technically they are & aren't at the same time.
They basically have a past together that 3 of the 4 don't know of while 1 has forgotten/made to about that after being locked away for centuries.

WesRefresh • 2 years ago

Thanks king. I'm sticking around cause I've noticed a few of the VAs are gods in the J-dub world

Kara Kent • 2 years ago

same

Kirito • 2 years ago

J-dub is better but there's some anime that's good with English dub and sometimes it's so tiring to read the sub

MakeAllMightGreatAgain • 2 years ago

Is this the beginning of the story or is there another arc previous? I can't find an conclusive answers online.

Ninjax • 2 years ago

People are calling this yaoi wtf lmfao! There is no way in hell this is yaoi. Anyone thinking so must not have any close male friends/brothers.

Ronin_84 • 2 years ago

Men don't have "close male friends." You know what we call those "close male friends" who hug or are close or touchy with each other: F*GGOTS!

Ninjax • 2 years ago

Sure bro, whatever you say

Ronin_84 • 2 years ago

You know what we call people who don't admit or think that overly closeness between males is gay: f*gs who don't realize they're f*gs

Ninjax • 2 years ago

Like I said, whatever you say bro.

Shiroshiroshirosan • 2 years ago

Guys guys, it's ff15 bro-trip before it was a thing.

Paranormal_Investigator • 2 years ago

Awesome ! Nicely explained 👍

John Joseph • 2 years ago

I thought this was sequel to Reload Blast?

Ger Vang • 2 years ago

Pretty sure it's because Gogo labelled it as josei.

Kirito • 2 years ago

Lol josei tag but there's no girl heroin here also that guy can revive the dead but has a yellow eyes that is not good

Berstich • 2 years ago

Sure its a pretty boy show, but its not gay/yaoi. Ive watched all the Saiyuki series and have found most of them pretty good action 'buddy cop' type shows.

Meroko Yui • 2 years ago

From all the ranting about people calling it gay there was only 1 person who said it was and more that it he called it gay and boring probably to insult the anime like it was lame. Honestly I didn't see the appeal of the anime nor the villains. One was a cowboy priest and the other a native American stereotype. It was pretty lame villains. The kid Goku is just kind of hyped about everything maybe even a bit dumb and naive. I think like most anime though it takes more then an episode to judge it.

Nika Takatori • 2 years ago

This is like the 5th season that refills missed parts between gunlock and blast seasons. The 1st is from the 90s 50 eps, 2nd 25 eps and 3rd 26 eps, and 4th 12 eps, with OVAs of the past lives and other ovas.
It is also a adaptation of the ancient chinese tale 'Journey to the West' that is literal Saiyuki translation and Dragonball/DragonballZ is also an adaptation a futuristic one as creator commented of basis Journey to the West.
So this Son Goku is literally the same character or based off same ancient character known as the Greatest Sage the Monkey King, that's why the 2 Goku's both have a pink pole, eat a lot, act like a goofy child, very instinctive connected to nature, and very OP these are all characteristics of the real character.
As follows:
Goku being Sun Wukong ("Son Goku" in Japanese), Bulma as Tang Sanzang(Sanzo Genjo in Saiyuki), Oolong as Zhu Bajie(Cho Hakkai in Saiyuki), and Yamcha being Sha Wujing(Sha Gojyo in Saiyuki).
The ancient tale has been adapted into other adaptations as well any with a Son Goku like a legit monkey one that's on this site somewhere and an older one maybe saint seiya? Are also other adaptations this ancient story has inspired a lot of works.

No it's not gay and the reason the priest is there is as he said he's from further west and they are in shangrila around near india when the show starts they are in eastern edge of China and traveling west to India to stop the resurrection of a demon that's causing a phenomenon of controlling all demons and having them attack humans, basically they all want to live in peace or most and now humans don't trust demons hate them and demons always end up turning to savages because of the air from this reviving experiment.
There's 4 or 5 scriptures of Heaven & Earth that created everything, each Sanzo has one and the wife of the demon being resurrected is gathering them to revive her husband and it can also be used to pretty much destroy the world as some other psychos want.
There's so many bad guys you missed like the 3 war gods that fight Goku in the first season and of course the son and daughter of the demon being resurrected which are a weird good bad mix like team rocket. The past of the 4 MCs like Hakkais sister/lover killing herself cause she was rape impregnated by a demon, Gojyo who is a half breed half demon half human that's why he has red hair and red eyes his step mother tried to kill him and his older brother killed her to protect Gojyo, Sanzo was an outcasted orphan 'Koryu' adopted by a Sanzo raised under his care and when the Sanzo before is murdered by demons whole temple attacked the Sanzo gives the names Sanzo to Koryu that's how he becomes bestowed the Buddha's power.
& Then Goku who after the war in emerald Palace of the heavens caused a scene after watching his very first friend hack himself over not being able to kill Goku on his father's orders, breaks his power limiter kills a bunch of gods than gets sealed in a mountain for 500 years because he's so dangerous a heretic abomination.
Than Sanzo finds him and frees him.
That's the journey starts.
Son Goku is not dumb and naive at all hes born from a rock from earth's essences that's why he's a danger without his power limited, he's very intuned with nature and is a different type of intelligence that's more instinct than intelligence just like DB/DBZs and just like that one is jolly always hungry and makes people laugh.
Trust me you can't understand or grasp this from starting here.
You literally starting at 2/3s into the story here. There is a lot and it's deep and dark! With Goku comedy like in DB/DBZ

You should youtube 'Son Goku without power limiter' or look up an AMV called Goku Past Hollow Eyes & see why he's a huge deal, it's beautiful blood gore what happened in the heavens especially in that AMV it's shown beautifully.
You never piss off the Monkey King

Meroko Yui • 2 years ago

Only liked the original Dragonball. Z and onward killed it. I originally watched DB before Z ever released and enjoyed it. Went from adventure to "An alien is trying to destroy the world" every plot and senseless fighting Z and lack of an adventure story. The original Goku represents the monkey king a lot better as well. So when people always remark on DBZ I just can't agree to the rest of the series being great. in turns the creator also did Dragon Quest. Much better when it first started out. Last enjoyed game from the series was DW3. It wasn't named Quest in the west at the time. Didn't get to see Blue Dragon much to comment on it. In terms I read that the book Journey to the West was pretty big book though and these seem to be older stories. It might not be bad to check it out.

Waie Wakuza • 2 years ago

ok i'm also ignorant so forgive me for that but are you saying the events in saiyuuki reload blast is after zeroin i really don't know since i did not watch any saiyuki series beside reload blast and this one here

Cookle • 2 years ago

yup blast (last current act) is happening after zeroin in the story timeline !

AngelT • 2 years ago

Zeroin is a prequel.
The older version was released in an order that was not keeping with the timeline. So the old series, ovas & movie have to be reordered for context viewing.

Mikiyachi • 2 years ago

Leaving this chronological watch list here for me to have when rewatching, and for others to enjoy if they want to:

* Saiyuki Gaiden (OVA x3)
* Saiyuki Reload Burial (OVA x3)
* Gensoumaden Saiyuki (EP x50)
* Saiyuki Requiem (movie)
* Saiyuki Reload (EP x25)
* Saiyuki Reload Gunlock (EP x26)
* Saiyuki Reload Zeroin (Revamp of Gunlock, starts from ep 13)
* Saiyuki Reload Blast (EP x12)

Iruina • 2 years ago

Exactly

Ninjax • 2 years ago

Well you need to go back to the start because there is a lot of story and not much filler in this series.

wwlaos • 2 years ago

They're actually very fun. I recommend them if you have time.

Of course, I know you don't have time, so just watch this one. :P
